Iron oxide pigments exhibit excellent weather resistance, high purity, and exceptional thermal stability. They demonstrate good compatibility with other components in application systems, absorb ultraviolet light to prevent substrate degradation, and are low in cost, making them widely suitable for coatings and paints.

Thanks to their strong hiding power, high UV opacity, and low water absorption, these pigments enhance the mechanical strength of paint films—particularly in terms of adhesion. When combined with other anti-corrosion pigments such as red lead or zinc yellow, they further improve the stability and mechanical strength of the coating.

Today, iron oxide pigments are widely used in various outdoor paints, traffic markings, metal anti-rust primers, and topcoats. Types used in paints include iron red, iron yellow, iron brown, iron black, iron green, micaceous iron oxide, and transparent iron oxide. Among these, iron red is used in the largest volume and broadest range of applications. Transparent iron oxide is particularly suitable for automotive topcoats, wood staining, can coatings, and medical packaging coloring.
